Usher laments whether or not audience can see him other than the entertainer he is when he makes his August 22nd debut on Broadway's "Chicago"
Dallas born, Tennessee-raised singer Usher Raymond IV sits down with NY Daily News and thinks whether he can pull off being Billy Flynn and not Usher being Billy Flynn.
Think of the actor who played Urkel," Usher says, referring to the geek from the '90s sitcom "Family Matters." "No matter how many times you see that actor, Jaleel White, you are always going to think of Urkel. Well, I think everybody always sees 'Usher.' But I am a real person. As an actor, I have to spread my wings in a way that will help build my career. I don't feel like it's safe, but if you allow yourself to view and understand it and not think about 'Usher' but about the actor, you'll really see something magical."
