Lupe Fiasco explains the meaning behind his name
This may be old to you but it's new to me. I never knew Lupe wasn't his real name. {Yes I knew Fiasco CANNOT be his last name, lol!} Lupe chats with PopWorld about his rap career and much more.
Check out his song "Pressure" featuring Jay-Z in my music box in the bottom left hand side of my blog. Love that song but I especially love "Hurt Me Soul" more.
"Why the name Lupe Fiasco? 'My real name is Wasalu and my nickname's always been Lu. When I started I was rapping under Little Lu or Lyrical Underdog. It Lupe comes from when I was at high school and I had a friend called Lupe. I was, like, 'Yo, I'm gonna take your name.' He was cool so I became Lupe. Fiasco came from an album called The Firm and they had a song called 'Firm Fiasco'. I liked the way it looked on paper.'"Click here to read the rest of the interview.
