Taye Diggs's new show "Daybreak" got cancelled and his thoughts of the 'sisters'
Taye with his wife Idina and Salma
Taye Diggs has expressed his thoughts on the 'sisters' according to Panache Report. "Taye Diggs’ TV series “Daybreak,” has been cancelled due to low ratings. One demographic who refused to support this series was African-American women; because Diggs’ girlfriend on the show was non-black. Their lack of support was instrumental in the numbers being down and the show getting the boot. This same scenario was responsible for “Kojak,” starring Ving Rhames getting axed, his love interest was also non-black on the show. Black women are sending Hollywood a powerful message. ‘If you want our support, cast black actresses opposite black men in your shows.’ In Related News: Taye Diggs made the following comments to “Rolling Out,” magazine. Please pardon Taye Diggs if he sounds a little pissed. But honestly, he has every right to be. Here he is, an accomplished thespian with successful stage and screen roles to his credit and a recently cancelled TV series (“Day Break”) which made him the only African American who headed up a prime-time drama on a major network — when less than two minutes into a half-hour interview I have the unmitigated gall to question him about his white wife.“I’m too far along in my life and in my career to really give a question like that any type of dignified answer,” says Diggs, who was raised in black, middle-class Rochester, N.Y., intones. “When I was in high school, maybe. College, maybe. But I’m a grown-ass man and if people have a difficult time dealing with that, then I welcome them to see a movie with Omar Epps or Denzel Washington or some of those other brothers that have chosen to spend the rest of their lives with sisters, as you say. I just don’t have time for it. You can’t make everybody happy. And for the fans that are out there that are into me; they don’t really give a f— what’s going on with my personal life.” {Source} Okkk Taye, I still got love for you! I have no problem with him dating outside his race. More power to him if his relationship is making him happy. That's all that matters, right? I mean I watched his show, Daybreak, and the show wasn't that bad. Taye was like the only African-American actor with a nighttime drama series on a major network. I can see how he's pissed off.

Exactly, anonymous, my thoughts exactly. They need to leave him alone. They're pegging him as public enemy number one for marrying a White lady which I feel is nothing with that.

It's a crime what ABC is Doing to "Daybreak"

In case you haven't watched "Daybreak" here's what you missed: It is a cross between "24" and "Groundhog Day";
The theme is based in Quantum Physics, multiple universes, the same day replayed with different actions causing different consequences.

ABC has decided to can it and not to even show the full 13 episodes that are completed.

You can help. You can email a version of my email:

ABC has a laundry list of cancelling shows that's really good. Look at "My So-Called Life" that they cancelled. Sometimes I wonder about the people for ABC. things that make me go hmmm...

At 11:27 PM, Anonymous Anonymous

Cancelling Daybreak is total BS. I was looking forward to it each week. IMO it was equal to the quality of 24. The acting was great. And the story was rich.

I feel violated. If ABC wanted to pull the plug like this they should have had a better plan for their viewers. This just goes to show how they feel about their "customers".

Jerking shows around is bad business.
And no offense to the cast but there is no way in hell that I am going to pay for a podcast or DVD for something that should have been free. I won't support that kind of hijacking and extortion.

At 11:36 PM, Anonymous Anonymous

Yeah, what do these execs want? I mean come on....why does every show need to have the ratings of American Idol to be deemed successful?

Do they actually think with all the 300+ channels to choose from and other media entertainment that people will only choose to watch ABC? It shouldn't be about getting everyone all the time. It should be about consistently great programs. That is how you get people to choose one channel over the next. That is how you get great word of mouth.

At 12:30 AM, Anonymous Anonymous

I am a black woman, and I refuse to believe that this show was cancelled because he's married to/co-stars with a white woman. It's TV. Maybe people weren't into it because they simply weren't into it. I tried watching it once and it just never caught my interest. This man is sexy as HE!! and if the show was interesting enough, I would have watched it, even if he was gay. Stop painting failure as somoene's fault. It is what it is, and it's NOT because of black women.

I, too, refuse to believe that black women are that narrow-minded or that Americans continue to condone segregation. Who cares what race Moon Bloodgood is? Fortunately, New Zealand showed all 13 episodes. I think Day Break was one of the most intelligent cop shows ever to have come out of the US. I wish your other shows were this inspired—this was a great interpretation of the successful BBC Life on Mars concept.
