The Crossover
Name: Alicia Keys
Vital stats: 27, single, piano-playin' prodigy
Known for: Collecting Grammy's and making beaded cornrows fly again.
What's Next: After co-starring this month as Scarlett Johansson's boho BFF in The Nanny Diaries, Keys preps for her lead role in the Halle Berry-produced biopic of a biracial pianist raised during the 1940's Jim Crow Era. Why we're checking for her as an actress: She's no rookie. In 1985, Keys landed a guest spot on The Cosby Show. However, it's her role as fierce femme fatale Georgia Sykes in Smokin' Aces that's making casting directors take notice. Does Keys see herself in Georgia? "We're both strong and indepedent," she says of her role as an assassin. But don't expect this New York City native to start pulling hits on anyone. "Am I looking to kill people? [Laughs] Nah, I just kill you with my music." [Alicia Keys was photographed by Gavin Bond, November 27, 2006, in New York City.]
