HATS OFF TO SERENA!
In between my family's outdoor cookout, I sneak in to watch Serena play some serious tennis. Sustaining a crucial calf AND waist injury, tennis champ Serena Williams battled it out during the semi-finals at Wimbledon only to lose for the first time against Belgium-native Justine Henin:
WIMBLEDON, England - Justine Henin took advantage of an injured Serena Williams at Wimbledon on Wednesday, advancing to the semifinals with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over the two-time champion.[READ MORE]
Although Williams managed to win the middle set, Henin's variety of shots kept the American moving. On Monday, Williams collapsed on the court with a strained left calf during her fourth-round win. She played against Henin on Wednesday with her leg, left wrist and thumb taped. "Definitely not 100 percent at all," Williams said. "It was probably at 40 or 50 — max. If I had been healthy I think I would have won, 100 percent."
Say what you want about Serena but she showed yesterday how much she puts her all into the game! Serena fought to the very end of the match for the win. Apparently this is the first time in Wimbledon history that Janet defeated Serena. On the flip side, Serena's sister Venus has advanced to semi-finals.
At an earlier match Serena's man, Jackie Long, was there to cheer her on:

even though she lost she still deserves respect for trying . most people would have quit and used their injury as an excuse.
