Maggie does "Marie Claire."
BUT before I get into that, Maggie and Ashlee Simpson swapped magaine covers...
When Marie Claire decided to redesign its image starting with the September issue, it chose Maggie Gyllenhaal as its cover girl. Though she has four movies coming out this fall, the 28-year-old actress found time to talk about her pregnancy, her famous brother, Jake, and her unique sense of style.
Maggie on being turned down for parts:
“There was a long time of not getting anything, or even coming close, and lots of feedback like, ‘You’re not sexy or beautiful enough.’ I was tough on the outside – ‘You must have a boring idea of what beautiful and sexy is’ – but on the inside, that’s a hard thing to hear.”
Gwyneth Paltrow, 33, returns to Hollywood with a role in October’s Running With Scissors and plenty to say in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar (due out August 22).
Mrs. Martin on being a mother:
“I do not know how single mothers have more than one child with no help. It
requires so much of my life, and I don’t have to change sheets and clean toilets, you know. My hat – no, my clothes go off to the single mother with no help; I stand naked, kowtowing before her.”
