Beyonce Knowles-Carter in Donna Karan performed "Ave Maria" for the NBC TV special, "Christmas in Rockfeller Center." The holiday show highlighted the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in New York City. The song can also be heard on her current album, "I Am...Sasha Fierce." Next up for Beyonce is the 2009 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.



Mariah Carey also got into the holiday spirit over at CBS where she performed "Christimas (Baby Please Come Home)" for the live Grammy Nominaton Concert. I like that mod-inspired outfit Mariah and her back-up dancers had on. Very Supremes-ish!



Also at the first ever televised Grammy nomination ceremony was Christina Aguilera who paid tribute to Nina Simone via a soulful rendition of "I Loves You Porgy" which is taken from George Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess." The performance was viewed last night on CBS.



Take a quick look at the new Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 AD campaign featuring Madonna as reported by WWD. The brand's creative director Marc Jacobs felt Madonna was the perfect fit for the rumored $10 million gig. "I think we should do Madonna. I was totally just blown away by it, and moved by her performance, by what she had to say, and her energy." I think the AD campaign has a very retro look to it...and she already worn those shoes to this Gucci event.

Without further delay, The 2008 American Music Awards was presented last night on ABC with a couple of "firsts" for the nominated artists. The rather-long music event was hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.



Rihanna's "Rehab" performance was done in thigh-high Alexander McQueen boots which was a departure from the ruffle Zac Posen dress she arrived in. Justin Timberlake unforunately did not join Rihanna mid-way through. The Gucci Tattoo Hearts brand face picked up two American Music Awards (her first ever AMA's) for Soul/R&B Female Artist and Best Female Pop/Rock.



Kanye West (in his own clothing design Pastelle) gave a great live performance of his current single, "Heartless." Kanye's last album "Graduation" won one AMA for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album and he also picked up Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Male Artist. During his acceptance speech, Kanye declared that he wants to be like Elvis. 'It's our responsibility as musicians to keep pushing each other. We will be the new Beatles, the new [Jimi] Hendrix. I want to be Elvis.''



Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" dance performance brought the crowd to its feet. Even Queen Latifah got up and did a little bit of "Uh Oh." Gotta love that Armani Privé satin black and white jacket Beyonce had on.


The Pussycat Dolls hit the stage to perform "When I Grow Up" and "Hate This Part." I liked that Melody Thornton had supporting vocals on the first performance set. Project Runway winner Christian Siriano dressed the Dolls for their red carpet appearance.



The Alicia Keys "Superwoman" remix with Queen Latifah was the event's last performance and one of the best. At first Latifah's mic wasn't working but when did it, I was blow away. Latifah's rapping again?! Then out nowhere classical vocalist Kathleen Battle joined the performance set. Hands down, hot! Alicia's third solo studio effort, "As I Am" won favorite pop/rock album.



Nick Cannon was such a gentleman as he helped his wife Mariah Carey down a flight of stairs before her "I Stay In Love" performance. Mariah (in Dolce & Gabbana) picked up top honors (honorary award for Favorite Female Artist) at the award ceremony for her record-breaking music career.



Christina Aguilera opened the show with a medley of her hits which included "Genie In A Bottle", "Dirrty", "Ain't No Other Man", "Fighter", "Keeps Gettin' Better" and "Beautiful".



Leona Lewis (in Jenny Packham) and Pink (in Vivienne Westwood) both hit the stage to perform their hit singles. Pink performed twice and she did a duet with Sarah McLachlan. Leona performed her current single "Better in Time."



Natasha Bedingfield and Ne-Yo both performed a medley of their hits. Tocarra was on the scene in a '50s-inspired polka-dot dress. Jordin Sparks (in Dolce & Gabbana) presented with Enrique Igelesias. Justin Timberlake paid tribute to Annie Lennox.

Kerry Washington was spotted in another sparkly dress at L'Oreal Legends Gala to Benefit The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Kerry offered her suggestion for Malia and Sasha's new pet/First Dog - a Shorkie (a mix between a Shih Tzu and a Yorkie). Why? Kerry owns one! And I quote: "My dog is hypoallergenic, and I've told them all about her."

Yesterday on a popular social networking site, Christina Aguilera released the video premiere for her current single, "Keeps Gettin' Better" - the lead track off her greatest hits album, "Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits." One particular scene of Christina in the Peter Berg-directed video sort of reminds me of what Timbaland did in 50 Cent's "Ayo Technology" video but nonetheless it's great to see Christina switch up her style in the video. Christina's greatest hits disc is due out in stores on November 11th.

Fresh off the heels of photos taken from Christina Aguilera's "Keeps Gettin' Better" video set, a brief preview clip surfaced online. In the clip, Christina gave thanks to her fans and she was amazed by how long (re: a decade) it has been since the release of her self-titled debut. The actual video has its world premiere on October 27th.



Part 2 can be seen over at XTINAWEB. "Keeps Gettin' Better" is the lead track off Christina's greatest hits album, "Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits" due out on November 11th. In the past Christina hinted that her next album would NOT follow the concept her "Back to Basics" album had.

Several video stills taken from Christina Aguilera's "Keeps Gettin' Better" Peter Berg-directed video shoot made its way to my inbox a few moments ago. Produced by Fern Martin, the single is the lead track taken off Christina's upcoming greatest hits album, "Keeps Gettin’ Better - A Decade Of Hits." The video premiere reportedly drops sometime next week on MTV.



In related news, Christina was seen earlier today at a press conference at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi for her live concert performance tomorrow.




I have to say this but "Keeps Gettin' Better" is a catchy song and I hope the second new song from the album is just as good.
