Janet Jackson to star in "Why Did I Get Married?"


Janet Jackson to star in the new Tyler Perry play-to-movie, "Why Did I Get Married?" according to VARIETY.COM. Sharon Leal of "Dreamgirls" and Neo-soul singer Jill Scott have sign onto the project as well.


"Janet Jackson has come aboard to star opposite Tyler Perry in his next film, "Why Did I Get Married," based on the filmmaker's stage play of the same name. Perry is writing, directing and producing for Lionsgate. Lensing is set to begin March 5 in Whistler, British Columbia; Vancouver; and then Atlanta, where Perry recently opened his own studio. Sharon Leal ("Dreamgirls") and Jill Scott have also joined the cast. The fourth film in Perry's lucrative franchise, "Why Did I Get Married" revolves around a couple who go away with friends every winter to examine their marriages in a group setting. One of the wives brings along a sexy young temptress who causes plenty of trouble for the couples. Reuben Cannon is producing with Perry.Jackson was last seen on the bigscreen in 2000 in "Nutty Professor II: The Clumps," starring opposite Eddie Murphy. Perry is in theaters with "Daddy's Little Girls," which has grossed $25.1 million since its Feb. 14 release. " {VARIETY.COM}
*I'm excited to see that this play is becoming a movie. Out of all of Tyler Perry's play, "WDIGM" is my personal favorite.*
