TYRA BANKS COVERS ESSENCE
Tyra Banks is on the February cover edition of "Essence" magazine.
In the interview, the model-turned-talk show host bought up the unfair way black actresses in Hollywood are treated as discussed Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, and Gabrielle Union in the Decemeber issue of "Essence".
“Sanaa, Nia and Gabrielle are strong, powerful women and they are all very successful in our industry,” Tyra says. “So it really upset me to read about how the money they make doesn’t match up.” In fact, after reading that article, she phoned her mother at 5:30 in the morning and announced, “Ma, I have a new calling.”
"America's Next Top Model", her lucrative deal with Warner Bros. Entertainment, and "The Tyra Banks Show" made the 34 year-old an estimated $18 million in 2006.
The February edition of "Essence" was shot by Matthew Jordan Smith.
For the cover, Tyra wore a Carolina Aubele dress and a Cara Croniger cuff.
