LISTEN TO SOLANGE'S SANDCASTLE DISCO
Another track from Solange's sophomore record "SOL-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams" made its way online via her myspace page.
"Sandcastle Disco" has that orangic '60s Motown sound she spoke about recently in "Sister 2 Sister" magazine.
In the latest issue of "Us Weekly", Solange admitted that a record lablel approached her and Ashlee Simpson to form a girl group nearly seven years ago.
"We're good friends," recalls Solange. The girls were sent to Disneyland to bond, but they already knew the musical pairing wasn't meant to be. "We just wanted a free trip," explains the singer. "She's this rocker chick. I'm this reggae Rasta chick. What the hell were we gonna sing about? It was mad cheesy." In the end, they agreed: "Let's just tell them no - and thanks for the the $200 in room service."[US WEEKLY]
Solange and newly engaged Ashlee are now labelmates as they are both signed onto Geffen Records. The Texas-bred singers both have new material coming out before the end of the Summer so who knows what might happen?

At 4:08 AM,
Now check out Solange's first album here. She named it -wait for it - "Solo Star".
Simon, I think so too but she made the sound her own though. Can't knock her for trying to sound different than her older sister.
Ummm...when did she have a freshman record?
