'G-UNIT rapper YOUNG BUCK has been arrested in Tennessee after missing a court hearing last year (06) on driving charges.
A warrant was issued for the 25-year-old - real name DAVID DARNELL BROWN - after he was caught driving with a suspended license last July, and failed to appear in court.
Officers stopped Young Buck driving his black Cadillac Escalade in Nashville yesterday (26JAN07), and arrested him when he outstanding warrant showed up on his record. He was released on $1,000 (GBP510) bond and will return to court on 27 February (07).'

Smokey Robinson is appalled by the way Barry Gordy was portrayed in 'Dreamgirls.'

'Smokey Robinson took a swipe at Beyonce, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy over what he perceives are inaccuracies in the hit movie "Dreamgirls."
On today's NPR "Morning Edition," Robinson said he is "very upset" over the "false information" in the film. Talking about the character modeled after Motown founder Berry Gordy, Robinson said, "Nobody was paying us. So he (Gordy) borrowed $800 from his family's fund and started Motown so that we could be paid. And for him to be maligned and made out like this villainous character is very, very, very offensive to me."
Robinson took issue with the stars of the film, saying that they belittled their history: "Motown is Beyonce's heritage. Motown is Jamie Foxx's heritage. Motown is Eddie Murphy's heritage. You know what I mean? They're black people. They're young black people. America should be proud of Motown because Motown made a statement all over the world that America could be proud of." {TMZ}

Oprah Winfrey has picked her next book for her Oprah Book Club members.

'If her goal was to erase the memory of the disgraced James Frey, then Oprah Winfrey couldn't have made a better pick for her book club than a memoir by Sidney Poitier.
Winfrey ended a year-long hiatus in her club by announcing Friday that she had chosen "The Measure of a Man," a "spiritual autobiography" by one of Hollywood's most admired actors — for whom the word "dignified" could practically be copyrighted — and a personal hero of Winfrey's.
Published in 2000, Poitier's book combines memories of such plays and films as "A Raisin in the Sun" and "The Defiant Ones" with observations about the Academy Award-winning actor's childhood, his religious faith, his thoughts on racism and the influence of such world leaders as Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi.
"He writes really candidly and passionately about his childhood, his family, relationships and his extraordinary career," Winfrey said on her show, which airs from Chicago. "It (the book) really is about what makes character, what makes you be who you are. He is the measure of one of the greatest men I think who has ever been on our planet."
Poitier did not appear on the telecast. But Winfrey said she will host "a once in a lifetime dinner party" with Poitier that will include members of her book club.
In a statement issued Friday by his publisher, HarperSanFrancisco, Poitier said he was "overwhelmed far beyond the point where words, alone, could fully express either my appreciation or my gratitude."
"Meanwhile, I proudly accept this honor on behalf of the forces that brought it about: the love of my parents, the ever-present kindness of strangers, and the hidden mysteries of the universe and, of course, Oprah Winfrey," he said.' {Yahoo! News}

WTF moment

Kimora Lee Simmons supposedly had it out with a party member at Alicia Keys's bday bash in the city.

'It was supposed to be Alicia Keys' 27th birthday party, but Kimora Lee Simmons took center stage when she got into a bizarre screaming fight with another woman Wednesday night.
The intimate fete at Bed started out mellow enough, with Keys hanging out with her boyfriend, Kerry (Krucial) Brothers, and pals like Clive Davis, Missy Elliott and Common. But minutes after everyone had sung "Happy Birthday," a shrill voice shattered the vibe.
"Get out of my face, b-!" shrieked Kimora, according to a witness.
Guests wheeled around to find the designing wife of rap mogul Russell Simmons yelling at a woman in jeans and a tan vest.
"Kimora said that the woman had thrown a drink at her," says one attendee. "She didn't look wet to me. But security grabbed the girl and ushered her out."
Asked by another guest what the fight was about, the woman said, "She's jealous of me!"
The woman couldn't be reached yesterday. Kimora's rep described her as "a disrespectful fan" who "accosted" Simmons. One source added, "Kimora doesn't even know this person, but [the woman] constantly shows up at events where Kimora is expected. Frankly, it's a little scary. Kimora is looking into getting a restraining order."
Whatever the back story, Keys didn't seem to appreciate the drama. "When Kimora was leaving, Alicia totally ignored her," claimed a source. Keys' rep insisted, "She had a wonderful time."
