21st Annual Soul Train Music Awards

Last night, the 21st Annual Soul Train Music Awards was held at Pasadena Civic Center and was hosted by LeToya Luckett and Omarion. JHud, Marques Houston, Ron Isley, and Omarion were some of the night's performances. [pic credit]

Here's a wrap-up of the event: "Jamie Foxx and Mary J. Blige are in the Soul Train Music Awards spotlight. They won best-album honors in the 21st annual bash last night in Pasadena, California: Foxx for "Unpredictable" and Blige was honored for her album, "The Breakthrough." Jennifer Hudson, who won the best-supporting-actress Oscar last month for "Dreamgirls," was given the Sammy Davis Junior Award for Entertainer of the Year. John Legend won best male single for "Save Room," and Gnarls Barkley won for best single in the category of group, band or duo for "Crazy." Also at the Soul Train Music Awards, Jay-Z won the Michael Jackson award for best soul or rap video for "Show Me What You Got." The Isley Brothers Featuring Ronald Isley won best album for a group, band or duo for "Baby Makin' Music." Ne-Yo was awarded best new soul or rap artist for "Sexy Love." Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds was presented the Stevie Wonder Award for Outstanding Career Achievement in Song Writing." [source]

Show/Performances

Omarion performed "Icebox" and "Get Up."

JHud performed "One Night Only."

JHud also walked away with the the Sammy Davis Jr. award for entertainer of the year.

Robin Thicke performed "Lost Without You."

Ron Isley performed "Just Came Here to Chill."

Marques Houston performed "Circles."

Rick Ross performed "Hustlin'."

Webstar and Young B perform 'In My Video,' which won the dance cut prize for the tune "Chicken Noodle Soup."

Kenneth Babyface Edmonds accepts the Stevie Wonder award for outstanding career achievements in songwriting.

Jermaine Dupri accepts the Quincy Jones award for outstanding career achievements.

Janet wasn't there with JD but check these two at Clive Davis pre-Grammy party.

Red Carpet
Laz Alonso
and Faune A. Chambers of 'White Chicks.'

Sydney Tamia Poitier (yes Syndey Poitier's daughter.).
Mario and Rick Ross.

Soul Train Awards co-host, LeToya Luckett. (Such a pretty dress...work it!)

Soul Train Awards co-host, Omarion. (You're too handsome to wear this crap!)

Actress Drew Sidora of 'Wild Hogs.'

Rosario Dawson. (Loves the hair and purse but yawn at the dress choice.)

Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth (she's working that hot Spring color-yellow) and Chingy (Ummmmm).
Tia Mowry of "The Game." [Is she pregnant?!?!?]

Actress Rochelle Aytes.
Brian White of "The Family Stone."

Rev Run with his daughters Angela and Vanessa. [Both sisters are working their dresses. I see their Uncle Russell's business savvy-ness brush off on them.]

Actress/singer Elise Neal.
Rapper Jackie O. (-smh- at the poor fit of Jackie O's dress.)

Young Joc and Jackie O. [Interesting...]

Larissa "Bootz" Hodge of "Flavor of Love 2."

Dani Evans of "America's Next Top Model." (Why does it look like I've seen this dress on someone else before hand??!)

Robin Thicke with his wife, actress Paula Patton.

Jennifer Hudson kept it simple in black and white.

Uh oh let me FIND out Shemar Moore's putting the moves on Miss JHud---he must not know about her man James!

DJ Webstar and Young B looked mis-match but still kind of fly.
DJ Webstar and Young B
Denyce Lawton and Wesley Jonathan. (These two were the night's best dressed duo.)

Backstage/Audience

Young Joc and A.J Calloway.

Tracie Thoms, Sydney Tamiia Poitier and Rosario Dawson

LeToya changed up her dresses during the show. [I like the zebra print...]

Omarion also switch it up a bit... [O definitely knows it's about that swagger.]

Well if you're wondering where was the other R&B artists that won and didn't show up, Yahoo News has the answer for you.
"Can they really call it an awards show if most of the winners don't turn up? That could be the conundrum facing the organizers of Saturday's decidedly low-key Soul Train Music Awards, which honor the best performers in the soul, R&B and rap fields. Eight of the 10 winners in the competitive categories did not show up at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium ceremony, including recent Grammy honorees Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Gnarls Barkley." [source]
[Denyce and Wesley. Mario]
The 21st Annual Soul Train Awards will broadcast in syndication between March 17th and March 24th.

There sure is! Who would have thought LeToya would be a host for the Soul Train Awards after Destiny's Child?!?! LeToya is a true survivor.

I co-sign on JHud but Shemar probably couldn't help himself. -smh-

It's about time Robin Thicke gets some love!

i'm surprised robin thicke's album did so poorly on the charts. it's really great .

why is rev erend run mean mugging the camera? does he not like the attention his girls are getting ?

jackie o should have worn a dress with sleeves. that tat down the arm throws me off .

At least Robin is getting some love. "Lost WIhtout You" is such a great song. He probably wrote that about his wife. I think it's great how he includes her into his music career. She was on this first album cover and she was also in his music video. (they've been together since he was 14.)

rev run probably didn't want to come there but I guess his daughters talk him into coming, lol! i can't wait until the new season of 'run's house' to come up. they're entertaining to watch over and over again.

jackie o i know she reps ghetto fab 24/7 but those tats threw us the "fab" part of her dress. maybe a long sleeved mini dress would have work for her.

Jennifer Hudson looks fabulous. But kudos to Janet, Baby, Shemar, LeToya, Omarion and many more for showing up and not shunning the event like they're too good now. Mary should've been there. She has come a long way and she was crying on the Grammys and couldn't cry and show gratitude to Soul Train for once again recognizing her especially where she's come from. Soul Train has alway supported Mary. Indie Irie was she there?? If not, she should've been. Enuf said!

A whole lot of winners didn't show up...I mean wasn't Soul Train like R&B's first music show. So I'm surprised some folks didn't come out to support.
