Here's another fun installment of Urban-Hoopla's Best of 2008. This time around let's focus on celebrity weddings.



Weddings: 2008 was the year of weddings. From The Carters (Beyonce & Jay-Z) to The Cannons (Mariah & Nick) weddings occurred year around.

Malinda Williams and Derrick "DJ D Nice" Jones - Malinda documented her bridal showers and pre-wedding prepartions via a blog on Essence. When they finally got hitched in New Jersey, their celebrity friends Boris Kodjoe, Nicole Ari Parker, Vanessa Williams and Terri J. Vaughn all came through with support.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon - These two came across as an unlikely pair when they wed on April 30th. The Cannons event set tongues ablaze via their matching his/her tattoos. (Nick has Mariah's name across his back and she has "Mrs. Cannon" on her lower back.)

Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict - "The Game" actress wed her long-time boyfriend Cory with her fraternal sister Tamara and brother Tahj in attendance.

Eddie Murphy & Tracey Edmonds - Just as soon as these two tied the knot, they quickly filed for divorce.

Honorable mentions: Here are handful of celebs who got hitched in 2008 as well as renew their vows.

Halle Berry flaunted her support for Democratic president nominee Barack Obama via a stylish pink and grey tee-shirt. The new mom was spotted leaving an L.A office. Last April, Halle was photographed in a "Obama for Change" tee-shirt (see insert).





Mariah Carey threw the ceremonial first pitch right before the Japanese baseball match between Yomiuri Giants and Rakuten Golden Eagles at the Tokyo Dome. Soon after, Mariah was seen shopping (without her husband Nick Cannon) in a purple "M" logo tee-shirt.



Neosha King of R&B sister sensation Cherish married her long-time boyfriend Jason Lawerence in a private ceremony. Neosha and Jason wed in a family and friends-only beach ceremony in Florida. The twosome have been together for over five years before becoming man and wife. Cherish sisters Farrah, Fallon, and Felisha King were all there at the wedding.



Will Smith explained to Ellen DeGeneres the successful formula behind his 10-year marriage to Jada Pinkett.

"What I found is divorce just can't be an option," the actor explained. "It's really that simple. And I think that's the problem with L.A. – there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options."

The secret to their success? "We're like listen, we're going to be together one way or the other so we might as well try to be happy," he said. [source]

T.I has teamed up with MTV to film his own reality series which would highlight his release from house arrest and his 1,000 hours of community service, VARIETY reports. Will you be tuning in?





Dr. Dre and his family enjoyed the Memorial Day holiday via a recent vacation in Hawaii. His children are Truly and Truth with wife Nicole Threatt.

Earlier tonight on BET's "Access Granted", the video treatment for Cherish's second single, "Amnesia" premiered.

Shot entirely in black and white, the Benny Boom-directed video has the same laid-back vibe as the group's "Unappreciated" music video.

Cherish's sophomore disc, "The Truth" has its album release date on May 13th.

Cherish reach out to their fans via a new YouTube blog series called, "Speak The Truth with Cherish".

The R&B/pop group (Cherish) picked the ballad, "Amensia" as their second single. The look-a-like King siblings also filmed the video treatment in Atlanta with music director Benny Boom.

Cherish's sophomore disc, "The Truth" has a May 13th album release date.

R&B group Cherish were spotted via THE MOST ACCESS on the Benny Boom-directed set of their second single, "Amnesia" in Atlanta.

From the looks of the clip, Cherish went for the same vibe their "Unappreciated" music video had going on.

The look-a-like siblings (Fallon, Farrah, Neosha, and Felisha) also filmed an episode of BET's "Access Granted" which has a May 7th air date. Thanks Mario!

A few weeks ago, JD uploaded this video clip of him remixing Cherish's lead single, "Killa".

The good folks over at Think Tank Marketing sent over this new promotional shot of R&B female group Cherish.

The ATL-based siblings plan to release "Amnesia" as their second official single off their upcoming sophomore disc, "The Truth". Rumor has it that Cherish's filming the video treatment.

2008 is becoming the year of the girl group, isn't it? Danity Kane just released their second number one album. Salt-N-Pepa and Blaque are working the reality TV genre. The Pussycat Dolls are working on their sophomore studio effort. Cherish has proven that they're more than just the "Do It To It" girls.

R&B singing group Cherish is gearing up for the April 29th release of their new album, "The Truth". Brian Scully kindly sent over to Urban-Hoopla.com the group's album cover art and a new promo picture.

In the meantime, you can listen to 4 new songs from Cherish's upcoming album "The Truth":



The songs in question are "Killa" featuring Yung Joc, "Framed Out", "Amesia" and "Notice". "Killa", which is the group's lead single, can be seen on the "Step Up 2: The Streets" soundtrack.

Finally a girl group resurfaced on the R&B music scene. Cherish, the foursome sisters from Atlanta, Georgia, recently premiered the video treatment in support of their new single, "Killa" which features Young Joc.

Cherish just finished up their follow-up to their debut, "Unappreciated" called "The Truth". "Killa" is also taken from the "Step Up 2" soundtrack and the song serves as the lead single off their March 25th album release.
