MICHELLE OBAMA COVERS VOGUE MARCH 2009

First Lady Michelle Obama can be seen on the March 2009 cover edition of VOGUE magazine in a magenta Jason Wu silk sheath dress. Vogue's editor at large Andre Leon Talley interviewed Michelle while Annie Leibovitz snapped the portraits of Mrs. Obama at the Hay-Adams Hotel and as well as The White House. FUN FACT: Michelle became the second first lady ever to be featured on the cover of the fashion bible, after Hillary!

On her Election Night Narciso Rodriguez dress: Some critics made noise about the plain black cardigan the First Lady-to-be wore on November 4 in Grant Park over her Narciso Rodriguez dress. She is unrepentant: "I'm not going to pretend that I don't care about it," Mrs. Obama says of the criticism. "But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear—people just have different tastes. Some will think that a sweater was horrible, [but] I was cold; I needed that sweater!"

On being mom-in-chief to daughters Malia and Sasha: "I'm going to try to take them to school every morning, as much as I can," she said. "But there's also a measure of independence. And obviously there will be times I won't be able to drop them off at all. I like to be a presence in my kids' school. I want to know the teachers; I want to know the other parents."

INAUGURATION 2009 PERFORMANCES
The Neighborhood Inauguration Ball and the MTV special "Be The Change" brought out performances by Maroon 5, Kanye West, Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, and many more. According to various reports including this one, all celeb performers were stun.

Kanye West and his new longer hairstyle/Afro/Mullet?? performed a medley of his hits including "Love Lockdown."

Adam Levine held it down vocally for his group Maroon 5. (Wasn't Songs About Jane their best album?)

Alicia Keys jumped off her piano to perform "No One" with soul. She told MTV she was glad to be apart of history.

Mary J Blige got the crowd moving with her uplifting song, "Just Fine." ("No time for moping around...")

MJB - "Just Fine"

Nick Cannon introduced his wife Mariah Carey who performed her #1 hit "Hero" in a curve hugging (what else?) Dolce & Gabbana dress.

Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" medley was assisted by Adam Levine, Jamie Foxx, Faith Hill, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Shakira, Sting, Mary J Blige, and Will.i.am. You can catch the President and First Lady dancing along. (Too cute!) LOL at Jamie Foxx: "You can tell he's a Black President by the way he was moving."

Do you like Michelle's throwback '50s inspired dress or not?

OBAMA INAUGURATION: NEIGHBORHOOD BALL 2009
Beyonce (who was so emotional) performed the Etta James classic "At Last" for the first dance for President (Barack Obama) and First Lady (Michelle Obama) at the Neighborhood Ball. Michelle selected a one-shoulder ivory Jason Wu gown which Barack did not waste any moment to toss out a positive compliment to his wife. "How good-looking is my wife?" (Did you know that "At Last" became popular the same year that Barack was born in 1961?)

President Barack and Michelle danced and looked at one another as though they were only two people in that room. Now isn't that real love? Thoughts?

CELEBS AT THE OBAMA INAUGURATION
The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin belted out a soulful rendition of "My Country ‘Tis of Thee" in front of a estimated 2 million people earlier today in Washington, D.C. for the 56th Inauguration. Aretha took it back with that hat, didn't she? Other celebrity guests and U.S. President Barack Obama supporters included Diddy, Jay-Z, Oprah, Beyonce, Solange, and Muhammad Ali. Mrs. Carters sported retro Ray Bans while Solange kept it funky in fingerless gloves. Diddy was obviously in YouTube vblog mode.

THE INAUGURATION OF BARACK OBAMA
Barack Obama (former Senator from Illinois) was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts as the 44th U.S President on Capitol in Washington, D.C. alongside his family (wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha). Barack became the fifth youngest President and the nation's first African-American president. Congrats to The Obama family!

On the fashion tip via AP, Michelle wore a custom Isabel Toledo yellow sheath and matching coat with teal Jimmy Choo heels and matching J. Crew leather gloves. (The First Lady previously worn a black ensemble from Isabel Toledo last year.)

Malia and Sasha's coats (see above) are from Crewcuts by J. Crew. Just in case you missed the historic moment, check it out as Barack said he's humble.
