INDUSTRY FRIENDS

Actresses and industry best friends Sanaa Lathan and Regina Hall attended the Kidada for Disney Coutour celebration in Bel Air:

[source]
Backstage at Broadway's "The Color Purple" was a reunion among "American Idol" alums Fantasia Barrino (2004), Jordin Sparks (2007) and Melinda Doolittle (2007 3rd place finalist) yesterday:

Overheard Hoopla
1. Wendy Williams, the Queen of All Media, publicly fired Melyssa Ford as the vixen. [LISTEN] Yeah I'm with Wendy on Melyssa not looking like her husband's mistress but my source lets me know that Mr. Wendy Williams has another one that rides with near his Jersey neighborhood while Wendy is on the air in The Big Apple. My source also let me know Wendy does not know of this new mistress and Mr. Wendy Williams flaunts his girl on wifey status. Things that make me go hmm...

TAMIA PERFORMS 'ME'
Back in November 2006, Tamia performed her hit, "Me" back on the Montell Williams Show:

This is one of my favorite Tamia ballads. She did an exceptional job. I don't understand how Tamia keeps getting overlooked in the R&B industry. Her performance was the first time Tamia appeared on national television after being diagnosis with MS and the album release of "Between Friends." The same producer behind "Strangers In My House" wrote "Me."

"As a mother, a wife and one of the most talented singers of today, TAMIA wears a new hat as an entrepreneur since releasing "Between Friends" on her independently owned record label, Plus 1 Music Group. Like Montel, Tamia also lives with Multiple Sclerosis and is extremely proud of the personal and professional growth in her life since the diagnosis."

[source]

Tamia recently performed her hits, "Officially Missing You", "Can't Get Enough" and other songs off her album, "Between Friends" for a performance set at MSN Canada's Orange Lounge. Click here to watch Tamia perform.

SNAPSHOT HOOPLA
This time around, Solange's focused on her musical career. She has written the hits for Beyonce such as "Upgrade U", "Flaws and All", and "Get Me Bodied." Not only for her famous sister has Solange written hits. She wrote the title track for Kelly Rowland's debut record, "Simply Deep" as well the Destiny's Child ballad, "Bad Habit" that Kelly sung solo on. Solange and Kelly recently team up on the song, "Love" which is featured on "Ms. Kelly."

Daniel Smith Jr's mother recently added the leaked song, "White Pocket Dreams" which is reminiscent of Kelis meets Corrine Bailey Rae.

Her sound is far from her sister and lyrics proves she's a stronger songwriter. Check out a new promotional picture Solange posted up on her myspace:

Her new look is quite edgier than her debut album look's huh? Solange in one of her myspace blogs has mentioned her influences as Gnarls Barkley, John Legend and Bilal and has written for Sunshine Anderson. Solange describes her new sound as a "fused downbeat electronica with 70s soul." I will say that "Feelin' U" with N.O.R.E is my favorite Solange solo record.
Here's the two songs of Solange that were recently leaked online:
Champagne Chronic Nightcap [Download]
White Picket Dreams [Download]
[props to Toya's World for the links.]

Kelis, in a two-page spread for "Hip-Hop Weekly", talks fashion handbag tips:

Kelis and her fashion sense always seems to be a step above what everyone's rocking.
Via The Wanderland of Kelis:
Kelis and 'Sin City' beauty Devon Aoki have posed naked for a new book. The stars have bared all for art photographer Marc Baptiste's new book 'Nudes,' along with 'Bring It On' star Gabrielle Union and 'Traffic' actress Erika Christensen. Aoki is already used to posing for photographers. Before her big break in 'Sin City' she was an acclaimed fashion model. The pictures are to be unveiled at a lavish launch party at New York's Milk Gallery Thursday night. It is not yet known if all the star models will attend. However, Mos Def, Wyclef Jean, Kelly Rowland, Forest Whitaker and Chloe Sevigny are among the celebrity guests who will be at the bash.

To promote her September 18th album release, Mya held an industry only listening party at downtown Chicago's House of Blues with surprise guest R. Kelly:

MUSICAL COMEBACKS

Click on the image to listen to the leaked Jagged Edge and Ashanti song called, "Put A Little." The song reminds me so much of one of their older hits ["Let's Get Married" and "Gotta Be."] Nonetheless it's great to hear Ashanti on a new track. Word is she's working hard on a follow-up to "Concrete Rose" which is expected to come out by the end of the year. Be sure to share your thoughts on Ashanti's musical return and her collabo with JE.
[LISTEN] [props to Kevipod Music]

OVERHEARD HOOPLA:
1. Nicole Scherzinger previews her upcoming debut album, "Her Name is Nicole" on MTV. [
WATCH]

Nicole has proven herself as a frontwoman of a pop band that had consecutive back-to-back hits, "Stickwitu", "Buttons", "Don't Cha", and many more.
She went from the pop sound of Pussycat Dolls to working in two different genres--R&B and hip-hop. She also proven she can hold her own up against Avant ("Lie About Us") and Diddy ("Come To Me"). Judging from this clip, Nicole can hold it all by herself with little aid.
2. Mya has team up with Snoop on the track called,
"Walka Not A Talka" [LISTEN]

Hate to disappoint my fellow Mya fans out there, she has pushed back her album, "Liberation", to this September 18th to apparently go up against 50 Cent's album, "Curtis."

This setback did not slow Mya's promotional tour for "Liberation" at all because she was spotted a party held in her honor held by Self magazine:

ROUND THE WAY

Robin Thicke opens to Giant about his high school years, racism, his wife Paula Patton, being compared to Justin Timberlake, and much more.

On the difference between him and JT:

“I would say that Justin’s been a star since he was 16 and it took me 14 years to become a star. That’s the big difference. I’m the guy who had to keep trying. I’m the guy who took four record deals and never hit. I’m the guy who has actually has been through all the pain and the struggle and the heartache. And when I sing now, I sing with pain and heartache and struggle in my voice.”

On the Hollywood effect on his marriage to Paula Patton:

“She was having sex scenes with the guy who won Album of the Year (Andre 3000), and I pretty much had no record deal. She didn’t come home during the three months of filming (Idlewild) because she was so focused. I started believing she didn’t need me anymore, and when she came home, I started projecting that onto her and pushing her away. That’s what ‘Complicated’ (a song from his album) is about – me saying, ‘I wish I could stop thinking I’m not good enough because,
otherwise, I won’t be able to get this girl back.”

[source via source]

Amerie's currently featured in the July issue of the magazine FHM:

And she's flaunting her 2 million dollar legs.

Kelly Ro is in the July/August edition of Giant magazine with Robin Thicke on the cover. Below is a two page spread on Ms. Kelly:

"Giant" rated "Ms. Kelly" with 3/5 stars...not bad. The issue of GIANT hits newsstands June 5th. [props to Jemel46 for the scans!]

Click here to see Kelly Ro perform "Like This" at radio station 97.9 The Beat in Dallas, Texas
And she address the fall Michelle Williams took on "106 & Park." Click
here to listen to what Kelly Ro had to say. And finally she performed "Dilemma" which you can download/listen to here.

Mos Def has ditched his music career for the time being for the movies. Check him out with Jack Black spoofing Ghostbusters here in this still:

Plot:

A man (Black) whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend's video store. In order to satisfy the store's most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films, which include Back to the Future, The Lion King, and Robocop.

Former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, 41, and actress Holly Robinson Peete, 42, raise four children -- twins Rodney Jackson 'RJ' and Ryan, 9 1/2, Robinson, 4 1/2, and Roman, 2 -- but their toughest job as parents has been confronting RJ's autism. The couple tell their story in this week's issue of People.

[source]
Holly on RJ:
When he started talking, 'cow' was his first word. 'Cow, cow,' he would say, pointing his fat fingers at the picture. He and his sister were hitting all their developmental milestones on time. He was sweet, had a great disposition and was always giving kisses and saying his few words. I will never forget that because one day he stopped. He went from saying, 'cow, cow' to nothing. Silence. Indifference. That change happened when he was about 2 1/2, very soon after he had received his inoculations for measles, mumps, and rubella. I noticed he
ceased making eye contact and responding to his name without loud repetitive
shouts. 'RJ, RJ, RJ!' we would scream helplessly.

Overheard Hoopla:
1. Amerie's a computer geek. "I am addicted to The Sims. I live out a virtual life online. I think it's seriously cool, but I guess it's kind of dorky. "I've got Kelly Rowland into it too, and now we hook up in the game. Beyonce tried to join us, but she wasn't into it. "Also I love to read science magazines. It's not very R+B I know."

AND WITH A BIG BANG
Jennifer Hudson surprised her idol Patti Labelle with a performance during her 63rd birthday celebration at Love Night Club in Washington DC this week:

And apparently rock the blue verison of the now infamous Oscar dress. J-Hud rock the same M.Kors dress on stage at the Oscars when she did the "Dreamgirls" medley with Anika Noni Rose, Beyonce Knowles and Chris Robinson.

Via OH-RIHANNA.COM, here are the official pictures of Rihanna on her $600,000 video shoot for new single "Shut Up & Drive":

That blue streak in Rihanna's hair is just apart of Rihanna's new edgier look. "Shut Up and Drive" is a big departure from her urban sound. I still can't shake off that 600,000 amount Def Jam pull out to pay for this video. No doubt that the end result will be with a big bang!

RIHANNA'S NEWSSTAND SNAPSHOTS & MORE HOOPLA

Because "Good Girl Gone Bad" album drops June 5th, Rihanna is on full promotion mode. Check her out in the new edition of "Giant":

[source]
[LISTEN TO RIHANNA'S GOOD GIRL GONE BAD ALBUM HERE]

For all my fellow "UB" fans out there, the complete first season of "Ugly Betty" is slated to be released on DVD:

America Ferrera and Betty Suarez are two different individuals, huh?

Also America and Eva Longoria were spotted rocking the same black and white printed Nanette Lepore dress. THE LOOK: America at a NYC trip and Eva at the Martha Stewart Show. WHICH LOOK IS ON LOCK?

Beyonce breaks it down during the live rendition of "Deja Vu" in concert:

[source]

Beyonce took it all the way down to the floor....

Apparently Beyonce let it be known in a recent French magazine she prefers her hair natural and she wants babies in 10 years:

"I actually don't like wearing make-up, I'd rather be natural," she says.
"My hair is natural and when I go out I don't need to spend hours deciding what
I will wear or which make-up to put on. I know exactly what I want."

[source]
And speaking of Beyonce, check out a shockingly slim Trina out at OZONE Lounge/DJ Mixer @ The Penthouse:

Notice the Dereon tee-shirt Trina is rocking. Oh yes. Trina has joined Evan Ross to rock Dereon on the regular, folks. [source]

Who rocks their Dereon the best-Trina or Evan?

Evan or Trina

Back in NYC, Remy Ma hit up the club scene:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Remy Ma was spotted at Funy Buddha Wednesdays where Shop Boyz of "Party Like A Rock Star" fame did an impromptu performance. Why the celebration? Remy Ma's birthday.

Kidada Jones, daughter of music mogul Quincy Jones, hosted the Kidada for Disney Couture Party at a private residence in Bel Air yesterday:

And the event bought out her sister Rashida and best friend Nicole Richie.

Robin Thicke was on Oprah again the other day. He was interviewed and sang “Complicated":

T.I and Wyclef team up on the track, "You Know What This Is":

T.I. and his summer anthems. No wonder 50 pushed back his album, eh?

Cassie, Mario Winans, Elephant Man and Young Joc joined Sean Combs at the Bad Boy Up Front event last night at Sony Studios in New York City:

Can you get back to THIS Bad Boy family:

I'm just saying. Remember back when Bad Boy music actually was about the hits and talents. Not to knock on Danity Kane, Cassie, and Joc but what happened to the talents of Loon, Cheri Dennis, Carl Thomas, and Black Rob?!

And since it's Friday. {What a long week it's been for me.} As you know, Nick Cannon’s show Short Circuitz is all about sketch comedy. He’s mocking commercials, TV shows and music videos. In this clip, watch as a sexy girl has an infection in her Camel Toe and needs some Mann Cream to heal it:

Short Circuitz Season 2 premieres Thursday, June 7th at 1030pm ET/PT, and airs every Thursday after. http://shortcircuitz.mtv.com/
[Thanks Audrey!]

Overheard Hoopla:
1. I need your input the 15,000 folks that hit up my blog weekly! Do you want me to discontinue the green border on pictures or keep it? Drop a comment or two...
