Louis Vuitton satin platform wedge pumps have been seen on Dawn Richard, Nicole Scherzinger and Heidi Klum. Is it safe to say that a shoe trend is born?!

Elegantly dressed actresses Sanaa Lathan and Dania Ramirez attended the grand opening of SLS Hotel in Los Angeles. Also at the event were Taye Diggs and Tyrese. Wouldn't it be something if Sanaa and Tyrese did a movie together ...like she did "Brown Sugar" with Taye?

2008 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS
Without further delay, The 2008 American Music Awards was presented last night on ABC with a couple of "firsts" for the nominated artists. The rather-long music event was hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

Rihanna's "Rehab" performance was done in thigh-high Alexander McQueen boots which was a departure from the ruffle Zac Posen dress she arrived in. Justin Timberlake unforunately did not join Rihanna mid-way through. The Gucci Tattoo Hearts brand face picked up two American Music Awards (her first ever AMA's) for Soul/R&B Female Artist and Best Female Pop/Rock.

Kanye West (in his own clothing design Pastelle) gave a great live performance of his current single, "Heartless." Kanye's last album "Graduation" won one AMA for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album and he also picked up Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Male Artist. During his acceptance speech, Kanye declared that he wants to be like Elvis. 'It's our responsibility as musicians to keep pushing each other. We will be the new Beatles, the new [Jimi] Hendrix. I want to be Elvis.''

Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" dance performance brought the crowd to its feet. Even Queen Latifah got up and did a little bit of "Uh Oh." Gotta love that Armani Privé satin black and white jacket Beyonce had on.

The Pussycat Dolls hit the stage to perform "When I Grow Up" and "Hate This Part." I liked that Melody Thornton had supporting vocals on the first performance set. Project Runway winner Christian Siriano dressed the Dolls for their red carpet appearance.

The Alicia Keys "Superwoman" remix with Queen Latifah was the event's last performance and one of the best. At first Latifah's mic wasn't working but when did it, I was blow away. Latifah's rapping again?! Then out nowhere classical vocalist Kathleen Battle joined the performance set. Hands down, hot! Alicia's third solo studio effort, "As I Am" won favorite pop/rock album.

Nick Cannon was such a gentleman as he helped his wife Mariah Carey down a flight of stairs before her "I Stay In Love" performance. Mariah (in Dolce & Gabbana) picked up top honors (honorary award for Favorite Female Artist) at the award ceremony for her record-breaking music career.

Christina Aguilera opened the show with a medley of her hits which included "Genie In A Bottle", "Dirrty", "Ain't No Other Man", "Fighter", "Keeps Gettin' Better" and "Beautiful".

Leona Lewis (in Jenny Packham) and Pink (in Vivienne Westwood) both hit the stage to perform their hit singles. Pink performed twice and she did a duet with Sarah McLachlan. Leona performed her current single "Better in Time."

Natasha Bedingfield and Ne-Yo both performed a medley of their hits. Tocarra was on the scene in a '50s-inspired polka-dot dress. Jordin Sparks (in Dolce & Gabbana) presented with Enrique Igelesias. Justin Timberlake paid tribute to Annie Lennox.

On the music tip, Nicole and her fellow Pussycat Dolls performed "Whatcha Think About That" with Missy on "Dancing With The Stars" last week. Am I the only one that hope that Melody Thornton will get more air-time vocal wise? Other than that, PCD did a great job...

ZOE KRAVITZ AT FASHION WEEK + PCD ON NEW VIDEO SET
Those black Stella McCartney wedge ankle boots stood out front row thanks to fashionista Zoe Kravitz. The offspring of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Benet was seen soaking up the Spring 2009 collection at the Stella McCartney show during Paris Fashion Week. Zoe was also spotted at the Chanel fashion show rocking her chic boho look in another fly pair of Chanel boots.

Mary Kate Olsen wore the wedge pumps style for her cover appearance on Elle UK magazine - the July 2008 edition. Notice how the sole of MK and Zoe's are quite similar? (Fashionistas think alike, huh?)

The Pussycat Dolls filmed a music video for their third single, "I Hate This Part" off their current sophomore disc, "Doll Domination." (What happened to their video with Missy??!) Check out the pop group behind the scenes of the video shoot. In the video, the PCD girls celebrated Melody Thornton's birthday and Nicole Scherzinger talked about her favorite song off the album.

KARDINAL PICKS KERI HILSON ON "TIDE IS HIGH"
Keri Hilson, according to RAP-UP, announced plans to release not one but two singles ("Return The Favor" and "Turnin' Me On") off her solo debut, "In A Perfect World". In the meanwhile check out this new song she did with Kardinal Offishall called, "Numba 1 (Tide is High)" which serves as Kardinal's current single off his album, "Not 4 Sale." If these new tidbits doesn't satisfy your Keri Hilson music craze, Stuff Fly People Like has a brand-new single she did with D.O.E called, "Coming Soon."

And yes for those wondering, Rihanna and the Pussycat Dolls also recorded the same song with Kardinal. So who sang it better? (Rihanna by the way made the final cut on Kardinal's "Not 4 Sale" album.)

J.LO AT MILAN FASHION WEEK, MELODY THORNTON TURNS 24 + THANDIE NEWTON COVERS "BLACK BOOK" MAGAZINE
Jennifer Lopez bummed into her "Wedding Planner" co-star Matthew McConaughey at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week. Also, it comes as no surprise that Jennifer attended the show as she was seen in D&G designs lately. You gotta love Jennifer's D&G limited-edition black croc "Miss Catch" satchel.

Turning 24 is a just another reason to celebrate as proven by Melody Thornton at Les Deux. Eddie Murphy and Brandon Davis of all people showed up at Melody's birthday party. Where was Bow Wow or even her PCD band members?!?

"When I Grow Up" on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"

London-based actress Thandie Newton, who currently stars in Guy Richie's "RockNRolla", can be seen on the cover of "Black Book" magazine. Thandie also can be seen next in the upcoming Oliver Stone-directed film, "W" as Condoleeza Rice.

[Spotted at Thandie Blog via Black Book]

According to Newton, moving from one film to the next was a wild ride between extremes. “The only similarity between W. and RocknRolla was that I was surrounded by men all the time,” she says. “Being with a lot of men is like being with a lot of kids." [source]

SNAPSHOTS & HOOPLA: LANCE GROSS, BEYONCE'S DEREON, ASHANTI AT FSO + PCD'S SNEAK PEEK
Derek Blanks posted up these new photos of actor Lance Gross onto his myspace page. New photos of the upcoming actor of "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" TBS sitcom fame surfaced online last week. Eva Pigford Marcille (as in Lance's girl) - hats off to you!

Check out this new Dereon AD featuring Beyonce. By the looks of it Beyonce still has that high-fashion swagger on. Her new album drops this Fall and everyone (who admires her dedication) including Entertainment Weekly cannot wait to hear new material from Mrs. Carter.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Also at Atlanta's "For Sisters Only " event was Ashanti who performed a series of her old and new songs like "Foolish", "The Way That I Love You" and much more. Monica, Ludacris, T.I, Tiny, Young Joc, Jazmine Sullivan, and Ludacris were also spotted at FSO. Ashanti will join her boyfriend Nelly to sing "Body On Me" this Thursday on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Tomorrow the pair will appear on "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and on Wednesday they'll set to appear on "Ellen." (Thanks John!)

The Pussycat Dolls offered a brief glimpse via PopEater of their music video, "Whatcha Think About That" featuring Missy Elliott. (Didn't Danity Kane feature Missy on their second single but that's just my opinion. Regardless of that small tidbit, I personally enjoy PCD's first disc especially their duet with Avant.) "Doll Domination" the second disc from PCD will be release on September 23rd. (Thanks Jamie!)
