Without further delay, The 2008 American Music Awards was presented last night on ABC with a couple of "firsts" for the nominated artists. The rather-long music event was hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.



Rihanna's "Rehab" performance was done in thigh-high Alexander McQueen boots which was a departure from the ruffle Zac Posen dress she arrived in. Justin Timberlake unforunately did not join Rihanna mid-way through. The Gucci Tattoo Hearts brand face picked up two American Music Awards (her first ever AMA's) for Soul/R&B Female Artist and Best Female Pop/Rock.



Kanye West (in his own clothing design Pastelle) gave a great live performance of his current single, "Heartless." Kanye's last album "Graduation" won one AMA for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album and he also picked up Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Male Artist. During his acceptance speech, Kanye declared that he wants to be like Elvis. 'It's our responsibility as musicians to keep pushing each other. We will be the new Beatles, the new [Jimi] Hendrix. I want to be Elvis.''



Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" dance performance brought the crowd to its feet. Even Queen Latifah got up and did a little bit of "Uh Oh." Gotta love that Armani Privé satin black and white jacket Beyonce had on.


The Pussycat Dolls hit the stage to perform "When I Grow Up" and "Hate This Part." I liked that Melody Thornton had supporting vocals on the first performance set. Project Runway winner Christian Siriano dressed the Dolls for their red carpet appearance.



The Alicia Keys "Superwoman" remix with Queen Latifah was the event's last performance and one of the best. At first Latifah's mic wasn't working but when did it, I was blow away. Latifah's rapping again?! Then out nowhere classical vocalist Kathleen Battle joined the performance set. Hands down, hot! Alicia's third solo studio effort, "As I Am" won favorite pop/rock album.



Nick Cannon was such a gentleman as he helped his wife Mariah Carey down a flight of stairs before her "I Stay In Love" performance. Mariah (in Dolce & Gabbana) picked up top honors (honorary award for Favorite Female Artist) at the award ceremony for her record-breaking music career.



Christina Aguilera opened the show with a medley of her hits which included "Genie In A Bottle", "Dirrty", "Ain't No Other Man", "Fighter", "Keeps Gettin' Better" and "Beautiful".



Leona Lewis (in Jenny Packham) and Pink (in Vivienne Westwood) both hit the stage to perform their hit singles. Pink performed twice and she did a duet with Sarah McLachlan. Leona performed her current single "Better in Time."



Natasha Bedingfield and Ne-Yo both performed a medley of their hits. Tocarra was on the scene in a '50s-inspired polka-dot dress. Jordin Sparks (in Dolce & Gabbana) presented with Enrique Igelesias. Justin Timberlake paid tribute to Annie Lennox.

Brandy can be seen on the Nov. 24th/Dec.1st cover of "JET" magazine with a bold headline that proclaims her return to the music scene after a 4-year break. Contrary to reports based off these new photos, Brandy has not hook up with her close friend Tyrese. Her new album "Human" drops on December 9th with the singles, "Right Here (Departed)" and "Long Distance." (I cannot wait to hear her new album!)



Beyonce visited The Ed Lover Show on Power 105.1 FM to promote her new album, "I Am...Sasha Fierce" (in stores today). Beyonce talked to Ed Lover and his co-host/former "106 & Park" VJ Free about Kanye's Rihanna comment, her upcoming movie roles, her sister Solange, her nephew, and JT's SNL Skit. Justin Timberlake collaborated with his signed artist/YouTube phenom Esmee Denters on the new track called "Follow My Lead." (Esmee is signed onto JT's record label Tennman Records. Incidentially the new JT/Esmee track will lead off Esmee's debut record due out March 2009.) Proceeds from "Follow My Lead" benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. After a boatload of photos and a sneak preview hit the web, the video premiere for Rihanna's current single, "Rehab" is finally here. The Anthony Mandler-directed video also features the track's writer Justin Timberlake, who co-wrote the song with Timbaland.



Just like the photos suggested, JT and Rihanna are 'lost' somewhere in the desert. (The video was actually shot at Vasquez Rocks Park in Los Angeles.) "Rehab" was one of my faves off her "Good Girl Gone Bad" record so I'm thrilled she picked the track for official release. I love those vintage Chanel pearl earrings she had on but do you like the video and its concept or not?

The final episode of "Total Request Live" aired last night on MTV with musical performances from Beyonce Sasha Fierce, the Backstreet Boys, Fall Out Boy, Ludacris, Nelly, Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent.



Beyonce performed a medley of "If I Were A Boy", "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" and "Crazy in Love" for the two hour live show. (No Justin Timberlake support this time around, LOL!) Check out her performance clip below...



Cassie was spotted in a pair of Yves Saint Laurent platform pull-on boots with the bright blue sole and matching lining outside "TRL" studios. Incidentially Jennifer Lopez had the same idea months ago during New York Fashion Week. Which lady pulled off the look?



After 10 years on MTV, "TRL" is over??! WOW! Anyone else disappointed that many of the stars that made "TRL" memorable did not show up?

Beyonce/Sasha Fierce appeared on "Saturday Night Live" to perform "If I Were A Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)." The best part of Beyonce's SNL appearance was when she did a hilarous skit with special surprise guest Justin Timberlake, SNL regular Andy Samberg and the show's celeb host Paul Rudd.



I think she completely nailed "Single Ladies" on that small SNL stage and she had great comedic timing in the skit with JT. (JT put some extra umph into his dance moves - LOL!)

Ciara (or is that her on-stage persona Super C) performed a new teaser track off her upcoming album, "Fantasy Ride" at WildJam 2008 in California. The song is upbeat and the dance moves goes with the melody but Ciara cuts off her sneak preview to perform her mid-tempo hit, "Promise."



UPDATE: Ciara also perform her current single, "Go Girl" and she even did the split just like she did in the video.



During her interview with Wild 94.9 backstage, Ciara said that Justin Timberlake would be included as a special guest on the album. Ciara went on to add that she'll be going into the studio with JT quite soon. Visit Sincerly Ciara for the video.

Rihanna collborated with Anthony Mandler- the man behind her "Disturbia" and "Take A Bow" clips for the video concept. The Timbaland-produced track has vocals by Justin Timberlake who co-wrote it.



These two have chemistry, don't you think? Rihanna has release "Umbrella", "Shut Up & Drive", "Please Don't Stop The Music", "Hate That I Love You", "Disturbia", and "Take A Bow" off her "Good Girl Gone Bad" album. You can't knock her hustle! Zoe Kravitz was seen at two major events in New York City. She first attended the Film Benefit Gala honoring director Baz Luhrmann in this coral dress. Zoe then pose with another famous offspring Riley Keough - Elvis Prestley's granddaughter at the 2008 MTV U Woodie Awards.



Sanaa Lathan rock a turquoise shirt dress at the Alberta Ferretti US flagship opening. I cosign Blogger Myssidominici's comment on Sanaa's looking flawless! Next up for Sanaa is a voice over role for FOX's animated comedy series, "The Cleveland Show."



Ray J filmed a scene for his upcoming bachelor/dating-typed VH1 reality series on Robertson Blvd. He was seen shopping at Kitson and Madison with possible female contestants. Brandy even admitted recently to Angie Martinez that she doesn't see her brother ever settling down.



Over at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, Alicia Keys, Padma Lakshmi, and Jessica Alba look fab at the 5th Annual Keep A Child Alive Black Ball. (Alicia was the event's ambassador as she was last year.) Also there were Justin Timberlake and Tyra Banks who had on a snug-fit red Michael Kors number.




Selita Ebanks joined her fellow Victoria's Secret models for a quick holiday photo session in Miami Beach. Selita and company exchanged holiday gift picks. The Victoria's Secret Fashion broadcast on December 3rd with a performance by Usher.

Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou were all smiles at the AFI Film Festival premiere of "Defiance" last night. Kimora wore a black and white Notte by Marchesa babydoll dress to the event. Wait is that Kimora's new engagement ring???

Judging by the smile Rihanna gave her close friend Chris Brown, she had a speedy recovery after her stage faint incident in Australia. The twosome were seen at their tour after-party in Sydney.



The Cannons (Mariah & Nick) pose backstage at the 2008 World Music Awards. Mariah has on a red Diane von Furstenberg dress which matches Nick's red watch. Mariah thanked Nick in her Special Lifetime Achievement award acceptance speech according to PEOPLE. "It's a blessing to live this life. Thanks to the fans and for the 18 number one singles I've had. Special shout to my husband and best friend Nick, I love you."



Alicia Keys performed "Superwoman" and "No One" at the 2008 World Music Awards in black YSL round-toe Mary Jane platforms before she arrived in a lavender Moschino dress. Alicia picked up the award for World's Best R&B artist.



Alicia was later on seen at Berlin's Giulianova Lido Abruzzo restaurant in funky pink and black platform sandals and harem-like pants after her "Wetten Dass" appearance. She performed "Superwoman" at the show. (Thanks Toya!)



Solange hit up the red carpet in a chiffon dress and colorful nails before she performed "Sandcastle Disco" at the music event. By the way Solange added a new blog post about her nail art obsession.



Michelle Williams rock a green dress when she arrived at the 2008 World Music Awards in Monte Carlo. She co-hosted the event with actor Jesse Metcalfe. Two-thirds of Destiny's Child was in the building!

Justin Timberlake hopped on the remix to T-Pain's hit, "Can't Believe It." The combination is pretty solid. Auto-tone is here to stay despites T-Pain's claim at the end of the track. (I see you, Kanye!) The track is taken off T-Pain's album, "Thr33 Ringz" (out November 11th).

When I discovered that Justin Timberlake has a new single out called "Magic", the first thought that I ran into my mind - Uh oh Robin Thicke and JT on the SAME song?? The Stargate-produced JT single is completely different with a quite addictive funky groove. Rumor has it the song is a demo for a female artist (possibly Rihanna or Britney.) Take a listen...



Moving right along Usher got into the Halloween spirit when he dressed up as Will Smith's "Hancock" character for Halloween. He's been busy working on a follow-up to "Here I Stand" and he also has a voter awareness song out called, "Hush" which I talked about earlier. Next up for Usher is the Victoria's Secret fashion show on December 3rd.

No sooner did Justin Timberlake said he wanted to work with Rihanna did photos of the pair on the Los Angeles set of her latest music video for "Rehab" made its way onto this popular fan-site. Rihanna and JT recorded the Timbaland-produced song for the original release of her album, "Good Girl Gone Bad" and it's also featured on the "Reloaded Edition". (Side note: Rihanna already released the Chris Brown-penned hit "Disturbia" from the re-release.) Do expect the Anthony Mandler-directed video to appear on the music networks any day now. In the meantime, enjoy the photos...



I cannot wait to see JT and Rihanna's on-screen chemistry. This song was in heavy rotation on Power 105.1 FM in New York City and my iPOD. By the way JT wrote "Rehab." Just in case you haven't heard "Rehab" just yet, press play.

A teaser trailer for T.I & Rihanna's number one hit single, "Live Your Life" debut on his official myspace page. The clip was shot earlier this month in Los Angeles and T.I explained the video concept to RAP-UP. "It’s like Pulp Fiction how all the stories cross. It’s being told from the last scene to the first scene and both of the stories kind of intertwine along with Rihanna’s.” Doesn't that sound interesting? The hype for this song only got better when they performed at the recent VMA's and at his recent myspace show. The video has its world premiere on BET's "Access Granted" on October 28th. Retail franchise Walmart released the cover artwork for Beyonce's "I Am...Sasha Fierce" deluxe/regular editions. Just like Beyonce said on her recent appearances on "TRL" and "106 & Park", the album will be divided into two parts - disc 1 (I Am ... Beyonce) and disc 2 (I Am...Sasha Fierce). The mystery illness that put Janet Jackson's "Rock Witchu" tour on standstill was idenitied as migrane-associated veritgo. Jawn Murray from BV Buzz was there to see Janet's comeback appearance in Washington, D.C. The famous Jackson sibling performed a medley of her old and new hits including rare songs from her solo debut album. Boyfriend Jermaine Dupri was spotted in the V.I.P section and you already know that means more YouTube updates! Janet even gave her fans updates on her tour and personal well-being via her SayNow page.
